Sebago Trails Paddling Company has finished our second paddling season! Located in Windham, ME – the commercial center of, and gateway to the Sebago Lakes Region of Southern Maine, we are conveniently surrounded by dozens of lakes, ponds, rivers and streams. All these local bodies of water provide countless opportunities for a variety of paddling experiences. Paddle under a covered bridge, discover the remains of the old Cumberland and Oxford canal, or paddle through the Songo Locks- the last remaining of 28 hand operated locks built in the 1830’s. Launch near the locks and follow the Songo River to the “Sandbar” at Sebago Lake State Park. See some of the many birds and animals along the shorelines – you won’t miss the loons! Come explore the natural beauty and cultural heritage in our own backyard.
We offer new Perception kayaks for rent by the day or by the week, with the ability to deliver it to the area launch site or camp where you want to use it. Please explore the galleries on our site, check out our competitive rates and delivery information or feel free to contact us via email, or by phone.
Also, check out our local map for launch points along with blogging options for your adventures, under Trips and Adventures. Here, you can share your fun experiences on the water with others who are looking for new locations to paddle. Feel free to also suggest locations that we have missed, and we’ll add them as long as they are publicly accessible.
Thanks for coming by! We hope you’ll have as much fun exploring the Sebago Lakes region as we do!
Our paddle shop and rental desk is located at the corner of US Rt 302 and Whites Bridge Rd in North Windham, ME just north of the commercial district along Roosevelt Trail. From I-95 northbound, take exit 48 and then a right onto Riverside St. In 1.5 miles take a left onto US Rt. 302. In 8.3 miles tun left onto White’s Bridge Rd, and an immediate left into our parking lot. Welcome! As we are not located on a body of water, all paddle craft have to be transported to a launch site – either by the renter or by Sebago Trails Paddling Company’s delivery service.
Where to Paddle:
There are more than 30 places accessible to the public to launch a canoe or kayak within 12 miles from our shop! They range from large state-owned launch facilities with lots of motorized boat traffic; to small, remote hand-launch sites at local bridge crossings that provide access to quite, unspoiled waterways. Each location offers its own unique paddling experience and views. Find a new place each time you go! Check out our launch map under the “Kayak Journeys” tab.
Who We Are:
Father and daughter team, Bill and Katelyn Allen have over 30 years of paddling and business experience between them. Life-long Mainers and current Windham residents, they realized that there are countless paddling opportunities in the Sebago Lakes Region. They discovered a demand for increased availability of kayaks and canoes for rent to the general public. So, in the winter of 2012-2013, they teamed up with friend Virginia Arsenault to form Sebago Trails Paddling Company. Beginning with a focus on kayak rentals, the trio intend to grow the company into the Lakes Region’s leader in paddlesports outfitters. Several organizations have been working in the area to provide better access to waterways for recreation as well as the restoration of traditional fisheries. Sebago Trails will continue to work with these organizations to maintain these access points, and encourage residents and visitors to get out and enjoy the recreational opportunities these waterways provide. With the support of our family, friends and community, we know we will be successful!
